Professor Bruno Belhoste Visits IHNS
Professor Bruno Belhoste visited the Institute for the History of Natural Science from August 1 to September 15, 2010. During his visit, he gave two lectures at the institute: “Between the State and the public sphere: the two faces of the French Academy of sciences in 18th and 19th century” (September 3) and “Science in Paris after the French Revolution” (September 7).
Bruno Belhoste is professor of history of science at the University Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne (France). He is specialized in the history of modern western science. His research work concerns mainly the scientific development in France during the 18th and 19th centuries. He has published several books and articles on the history of mathematics, the history of engineering sciences, and the history of scientific institutions. His current research is about the scientific life in Paris during the modern time.
