- Zhang Baichun et al. Participated in the 6th International Conference of European Society for the History of Science
The 6th International Conference of European Society for the History of Science (ESHS) was held in Lisbon, 4-6 Sept. 2014. Invited by the local organizer, the Interuniversity Centre for the History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT), Professor Zhang Baichun, Professor Tian Miao, associate professor Yao Dazhi and Dr. Zheng Cheng from the IHNS, as well as other Chinese scholars from mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, participated in the conference and took presentations. The theme of the conference is "Communicating Science, Technology and Medicine”. Around 500 scholars participated in the conference.
During the conference, the president-elect of the ESHS, Professor Karine Chemla from French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) was inaugurated, and Professor Zhang Baichun was elected to be a member of the Scientific Council of the ESHS. Professor Jürgen Renn, the director at Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, won the Gustav Neuenschwander Prize, which is “the principal prize of the ESHS awarded for outstanding life-long achievements and major contributions to the discipline of the history of science”. The next ESHS Conference will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, 2016.
