Posthumous Scientific Manuscript of Zou Boqi……LI Di
【Abstract】 This article deals with three posthumous manuscript of Zou Boqi,a Chinese scientist of the late 19th century.Because all the three books are not titled or signed by the original author,they are named as Book A,Book B and Book C in the article.In addition,five hand- copied fragments of Zou's papers are also discussed towards the end of the article.The author of this article deems that all the discussed treatises are Zou Boqi's scientific works,and some of them are copied by Zou Boqi's descendents.

【Abstract】 Appearing in 1916 in Journal of Natural History 1(3)27—34 and written by Hu Lie (namely Hu Jingfu, a famous entomologist in China),Study of Algae is the first treatise on Chinese freshwater algae. It was published by Shanghai Wenming Press and edited by Shanghai Natural History Society.In this article,the treatise and its author are introduced in detail with a discussion on its scientfic value and importance.

【Abstract】 The Haongho-Paiho Museum in Tientsin,a scientific institution for collection,preservation and research,was founded in 1922.Although Fang Jian-chang gave a minute textual research in his On the Haongho-Baiho Museum in Tientsin,he had not enough primary material,especially files of the Museum,so there still exist some problems.According to the files in Hebei University and other units,this paper centers on the Museum's building and development process,source of funds,collection characteristics,and the academic activities and contribution of E.Licent,and thus further defines some elementary facts.

【Abstract】 Following its introduction into China towards the end of the Ming Dynasty,potato immediately became a delicacy of the imperial family.After the middle period of the reign of Emperor Qianlong,there was an urgent need of increasing grain yield due to population increase,and also because of the slackening of residence registration,the peasants came to enjoy the freedom of migration,so potato could be spread to all parts of China.Having been introduced into different regions,this plant quickly merged into the local natural conditions and began to have lots of alternative names that are mixed up with one another.After gaining a clear idea of the evolution of its name,the process of the introduction and spread of potato will become more distinct.

【Abstract】 From 1950 to 1960, the Soviet Union's technology was transferred to China systematically and the dimension of this progress was unparalleled. The aeronautical technology was very important in this transfer. With the help of Soviet experts, Beijing College of Aeronautics(BCA) was founded. Imitating the style of Soviet Union's university, BCA founded colleges,departments,staff rooms and labs, established regulations,schemes and all kinds of practice plans, adopted many Soviet books and technical data. Soviet experts gave lessons, taught students and cultivated teachers in BCA,thus building a solid base for the development of BCA.

Tan Zhenmo and His Tan Zi Diao Chong……LUO Gui-huan
【Abstract】 Tan Zi Diao Chong by Tan Zhenmo is a book on invertebrates(mainly insects) which were very common in his home town during the late Ming dynasty.The book describes around one hundred insects in the form of poems or records.It summarizes the achievements about knowledge of Tan's predecessors about such insects,and meanwhile also records some new knowledge about their behavior and breeding which was usually neglected in ancient China.Hence,Tan Zi Diao Chong may be regarded as the ancient China's first work of its kind.This paper gives a simple account of Tan's life,analyzes the features and achievements of the book,and approaches the background for its writing.
