Abstract Oral historiography and the PRC history studies are two new branches of history. The oral history not only patches up holes in documentary materials of the PRC history studies, but also is beneficial for finding the PRC history law of development and innovating research methods. Focusing on gathering,collating and researching oral history materials, the Institute of Contemporary China Studies has done much useful work to construct and develop Chinese oral history.
