This research program is guided by Chinese government strategic research tasks. Based on studies of history, philosophy and sociology of S&T and management science, it aims at solving contradictions between existing theories and new research on the history of S&T, and proposing fresh theoretical interpretations. It focuses on the:  

-routes and models of S&T development over long periods of time, including dynamic mechanisms and other factors; 

-interaction of scientific and technological innovation with the economy and society;  

-theoretical analysis of urgent practical problems, such as reform of the scientific system.
